The Faculty of Pharmacy originated from the Sekolah Tinggi Farmasi Indonesia Perintis Padang (Indonesian College of Pharmacy Perintis Padang), which was a pharmacy college under the Perintis Padang Foundation. It was established in 1997 through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 42/D/O/1997 dated July 18, 1997, with one registered study program: the Bachelor of Pharmacy program (S1 Farmasi). The program began academic activities in August 1997 with an initial intake of 21 students.
Meanwhile, the license to operate the Professional Pharmacist Study Program (Program Studi Profesi Apoteker) was obtained in 2007 through the Permit for the Implementation of the Professional Pharmacist Education Program No. 1109/D/T/2007 issued by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education. Since 2007, the Indonesian College of Pharmacy Perintis Padang officially managed two study programs: Bachelor of Pharmacy and Professional Pharmacist Program.
In 2020, during the Odd Semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, the institution transitioned from a college into the Faculty of Pharmacy under a university structure, through a merger with Sekolah Tinggi Kesehatan Perintis Padang (Perintis Padang Health College) and the establishment of the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Social Sciences. This transformation was formalized by the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 605/M/2020, which marked the establishment of Universitas Perintis Indonesia (Perintis University of Indonesia).
As a faculty within the university, the Faculty of Pharmacy continues to manage the same two study programs: Bachelor of Pharmacy and Professional Pharmacist Program.
